My Review of the Insanity Max:30 Workout Program

Insanity Max 30As part of the BeachBody company, Shaun T has brought us many workout systems in the past, each of them targeted towards achieving a specific goal. One of the biggest, most effective systems created in the past was the base Insanity workout, which changed everything as one of the most intense workout systems ever created.

Now, the same creators have brought us the Insanity Max:30 system, which I’ve had the pleasure of trying out. I’ve been trying to lose weight for some time now, and have tried just about every program out there.

Some of them produced decent results, but none really got me to the shape I wanted to be in.

That is until I tried Insanity Max:30.

Well, this is something that’s a big enough game changer that I have to share it with the world, because I’m looking better than ever before.

First, though, let’s look at what Insanity Max:30 is, and how it’s different from anything produced in the past.

What is Insanity Max:30?

This program builds upon the past Insanity workout. It helps achieve a similar goal of less body fat and more muscle tone, but cuts down the time and adds in some fresh, new workouts that you probably have never done before.

The original workout was focused around providing a full 12 months of intense workout results in only two months. However, the workouts lasted 45 minutes long. Now, Insanity Max:30 is here to produce those same results in less time – only 30 minutes each day.

It’s going to be the most intense, hardest working 30 minutes you’ve ever experienced in your entire life, but that’s what it takes to deliver real results. After 60 days, you’re done. It’s just maintenance from that point forward.

This system is all about pushing yourself a little further than you thought possible in the past – making you a little stronger, a little more fit, and a little better off than you were before taking on this system.

Check out the video below if you haven’t seen it yet to get a sneak peek at what Insanity Max:30 is all about:

Why is it Called Max:30?

Based on the last section, the “30” part is obvious – it’s aimed to deliver results in only 30 minutes per day. The “Max” part comes from the intensity required to deliver such results. It will push yourself to your maximum limitations. That might sound grueling, but it’s limited to a short amount of time, so in my experience it really wasn’t that difficult to get through the system.

With that in mind, one thing’s for sure – your muscles are being worked to their absolute maximum potential. You’ll never feel like you’re missing something vital from your workouts with Insanity Max:30. At the end of every session, you’ll know you ended up working out every fiber of your body to the maximum potential possible.

The end result is physical improvement, and the satisfaction that comes with knowing you’re making the maximum progress possible within the given amount of time. I’ve given up on past workouts before, just because I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere. I think the reason I managed to stick with Insanity Max:30 is simply because I felt like I was getting somewhere. At the end of every workout, I felt better. More energized. Like I was actually working towards results, rather than wasting my energy, sweat, time, and worst of all, money.

What Are the Workouts Like?

One of the most important concerns most people have before starting a workout is how much time it’s going to demand, and what each workout session is going to involve.

Insanity Max:30 is based around a 5 day per week routine, so you always get two days off – which I found out is actually vital to muscle recovery in order to achieve the best results. If you did it every day of the week, you would actually end up progressing slower, as muscle exhaustion begins to set in and your results deteriorate. In other words, the “Max” idea is set to deliver maximum results, not work you to the max beyond the point of realistic progress.

During the workouts, you can expect to do the following:

  • A triple set of strength workouts
  • A brief break to recover
  • A triple set of cardio movements
  • Another break
  • Alternating sets that move between cardio and strength
  • An additional power move that lasts for 60 seconds, but this isn’t added until the second month.

The result is muscle confusion, which helps your body avoid getting used to doing the same movement over and over again and hampering your results. This also helps you to not get bored of the workout, which is something I found to be very vital to sticking with the workout every day and not getting bored or burnt out from doing the same thing over and over again.

What If Insanity Max:30 is too Difficult for Me?

Not to worry. This was one of my biggest concerns when starting the Insanity Max:30 routine, but I was pleased to discover they offer something they call the “modifier” workout for each workout they show on the screen.

This is a simplified, easier to follow move for those who aren’t quite in good enough physical condition to perform the full workout. It works the same muscle groups, but takes advantage of basic principles of body leverage to make it easier to follow.

I found I had to use a few modifier moves to get through the workouts at first, but as my conditioning improved and I gained physical strength, I ended up being able to do the full workout before the 60 days was over. This alone is proof that the Insanity Max:30 workout really does produce benefits – if it didn’t, I wouldn’t have been able to do the full workout.

Additionally, there are low impact modifiers as well, so those with hip, knee, or other joint problems won’t have to worry about stressing their bodies to the full extreme. This wasn’t a huge issue for me, but I do have bad ankles, so it was nice to be able to take a more laid back approach to each workout in order to save my inflamed joints from damage.

insanity max:30 vs insanityTons of people across the country have heard of extraordinary fitness trainer Shaun T’s incredible Insanity workout. Shaun T has dubbed his Insanity workout as the hardest workout ever put on DVD. Doesn’t this sound like a challenge you would like to tackle?

Now, he has created a brand new Insanity workout with 150 brand new moves: Insanity Max:30. This new, exciting workout is just as action packed and fat burning as the original insanity workout!

The original Insanity workout time lasts 45 minutes or longer. Imagine getting an equally helpful and intense workout in less time!

With Insanity, you exercise in 3 to 5 minute intervals, and only take breaks long enough to catch your breath, and then you get right back to work.

Insanity Max: 30 begins with slightly more intense workouts. In the beginning, you may only make it through the first 3 minutes, therefore, 3 minutes will be considered your max out time. The next time you do the work out, you should try to push yourself to last 30 seconds longer than your max out time. You should try to make 30 seconds of progress every day for 60 days, and at the end of the 60 days, you will make it to the Max 30!

Both workouts guarantee results in 60 days or less! Insanity Max: 30 and Insanity also come with two bonus workouts, so you’re getting more bang for your buck!

The original Insanity demands more out of you, only allowing you to take brief breaks. Insanity Max: 30 starts working you out with extreme exercises from the very beginning, so you really have to push yourself to make it through those tough 30 minutes.

Do you think you just don’t have it in you to complete these workouts? No worries! Each workout has a low impact modifier to help you stay in the game! Each workout is intense, exciting, demanding, and guarantees weight loss. Join the Insanity movement today!

Tips to Recover From Your INSANITY MAX:30 Workouts

workout recoveryIf you’ve ever done a hard workout at the gym (or even at home!) then you’ll know just how difficult it can be to get out of bed in the morning. The ache in your muscles and the constant fatigue is definitely something that can hinder the rest of your day. Over time you’ll naturally adapt and become accustomed to the aches and fatigue, but it’s important that you still know how to properly recover from a workout.

Check Your Diet

Your diet is perhaps the most important aspect of your health and fitness journey. It doesn’t matter how hard you work in the gym if you’re not putting the right kind of fuel into your body. If you want to lose weight then you should be limiting the amount of food that you consume, the opposite is true if you want to gain muscle mass.

Nonetheless, make sure that you aren’t cutting your calories back too much as this will definitely promote fatigue and make it more difficult for you recover after your workout. If you’re trying to lose weight, a good rule of thumb to follow is to eat 10-15% less calories than your basal metabolic rate (BMR).

Utilize Recovery Methods

If you think that your diet is all sorted and you’re still struggling to recover properly from your workouts, it might be worth considering some recovery methods. The most common of these is a deep tissue massage, but this is of course very expensive and not economically for most of us.

A popular and inexpensive method is using a foam roller, this is quite a dense piece of foam which you can use instead of a deep tissue massage. You simply need to apply weight to muscle that is aching and roll on the foam to help ease the muscle.

Get Enough Sleep

This is actually one of the most overlooked aspects of health and fitness, which is quite surprising considering it’s also one of the most important! During your workout, your body is working hard to break down the muscle fibres. An essential part of recovery is repairing those muscle fibres that have been broken down during your workout, and this vital repair happens mostly when you are asleep.

You don’t necessarily have to sleep for 12 hours a day, sometimes not even the recommended 8 hours! The amount of sleep a person should get is still a very misunderstood concept and at the moment, it’s generally agreed that the quality is more important than the quantity.

So there you go! Follow these tips in conjunction with your Insanity Max 30 workout program and you will see an even greater benefit!

Workout Nutrition to Follow With INSANITY MAX:30

Workout NutritionWhen working out and trying to get fit, its hard to sort through the myriad of information available on how to stay healthy and eat right. Nutrition is just as important as exercise when trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle whether you want to lose weight, build muscle, or simply increase your stamina, energy levels, and overall wellness.

And since Insanity Max:30 is a pretty intense program, following proper nutrition is critical here to see results.

Healthy carbohydrates are key to providing energy to fuel you during workout sessions. Whole wheat breads and fruits give you natural, healthy carbohydrates necessary to increase energy levels to afford you the ability to maintain a rigorous workout. Bananas are a particularly good choice where fruit is concerned before a workout, because they are rich in potassium, a vital nutrient that is expelled when sweating. It will keep your potassium levels at a healthy level when you sweat during a workout. Apples are also a good option as their rich concentration of antioxidants is heart-healthy and helps to promote healthy lung function. This is especially important during vigorous activity and cardiovascular exercise.

That being said, definitely make sure you are adequately hydrated. Water is best, but a little juice containing bananas is a tasty and nutritious choice. Diluting your juice with water is a great option! The optimum pre-workout meal should contain about 75% carbohydrates and 25% protein. A smart choice is wheat toast with some peanut butter spread on it. Its best to consume a meal between 30 minutes – 2 hours prior to your workout.

After you work out, your first consideration is to rehydrate your body. About 16-20 ounces is what you need to help you recover. Make sure you bring along plenty of water. On average, 4 cups of sweat is expelled per hour of exercise. A glass of orange juice can help stabilize potassium levels that plummet during a sweaty workout.

Post-workout meals should contain mostly protein as this dietary selection is a necessity in repairing damaged muscle tissue during a vigorous workout. Within a few hours post-workout, protein in your muscles begins to diminish. You also need to replace the carbohydrates you burned to stay alert and vital for the rest of the day, eggs will provide you with plenty of protein and a lesser amount of carbohydrates, though enough to get you through the rest of the day. Salmon is also a good option as it not only provides you with protein, but it contains anti-inflammatory properties to help your muscles stay healthy and promote healing.

Following some of these suggestions will assist you in achieving healthier lifestyle and in feeling better before and after your workout. Small, consistent changes can make a huge difference in the long-run. These tips can support the results you wish to achieve during your workout on a path to a healthier, leaner, and more energetic you!

A few years later, he graduated Rowan University with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science with a minor in Theatre and Dance.

After graduating from Rowan University, Shaun T did not dive entirely into the fitness world immediately. Over the next few years, the Insanity line grew and expanded to cover Insanity: The Asylum Volume 1 and 2. As if this weren’t enough, in 2013, Shaun T again produced another top selling workout: Focus T25.

Because of the intensity and difficulty of the Insanity workout and its resulting success and popularity, Shaun T was rewarded with countless new opportunities, including guest appearances on multiple shows such asThe Oprah Winfrey Show, The Tyra Banks Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Doctors, the Dr. Oz Show, and more.

What exactly is it about Shaun T’s workouts so amazing? Not only are the workouts intense and perfectly capable of inducing soreness over the entire body the next day, but Shaun T himself is part of the reason each workout is so successful. With his unstoppable energy and passion, Shaun T truly makes his viewers feel like he believes in them, like he’s personally rooting for them.
